5 Products That My 2 Teenage Boys Live By To Keep Acne Away…..
Ok, we know that appearance can almost be everything especially when you hit high school. My boys are my everything, and they never cease to amaze me. Being a mom of boys has given so much more male experience, even more so that my husband has taught me a thing or two! There is just another side to being a boy, and growing up to be a young man. No matter what though, they will always be my babies. As soon as my boys started hitting puberty, and the voice began to change, and things started popping up we weren’t ready for yet!
Boy Changes and Discussions…..
Being a mom of boys, it is always important to make sure that they can come to me for anything. The boys haven’t quite gotten into the girl thing just yet. The oldest is beginning to notice them a lot more! (LOL). Caleb my 9th grader spends a great deal of time outside in the heat with marching band. He began to feel like the sun was very harsh on his skin, and small changes started occuring to his skin. Caleb and I and I had a conversation before band kicked off, about how he would begin to see changes on his skin. The thing I love the most is that he cares about his appearance. He also has some type of self-image that is very important to him.
Aaron my 2nd oldest is beginning to hit the puberty arena, and asks a lot more questions about himself, and hygiene. We have had those discussions about what girls like, and don’t like. There are more moments when I give it to my boys straight. Don’t boys just come with their own set of worries, but as their mom it is important that their self confidence isn’t completely annihilated. I ‘m definitely going to always set them up for success, never failure. Aaron loves to play basketball, and spends a great deal of time outside practicing. I had such terrible acne, and wouldn’t even wish that on my worst enemy, let a lone my boys. So with that being said, we designed the best actionable plan for their skin types, along with rules too!!
BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE
Make sure that you put in the work, so that your reap the rewards….
Be aware of any slight changes in all parts of your skin. (skin cancer is real)
Keep your finger, and or nails out of your face. (Your fingernails are poisonous, that’s how you leave acne scars)
Even certain hair products can cause harm to your skin….
Never wash your face with the same towel, that you washed your BUTT with!!!!!
Wash your face, like you brush your teeth at least 2 times a day…
Treat your face nicely, you only get one…. 🙂
Growing Pains and Teenagers………
All of these things are trial and error, and we have learned from a few different products. Everyone’s skin is very different, and may have different needs too! My boys are walking onto a different scene of their lives, and they always ask me for help. Working on a very actionable plan with them has really worked in our favor. As, time goes by they will both have different needs, and need varying things. When we do cross that road, I will make sure that they have tools to use for their skin.
Puberty is real, and it varies for all children. My goal was just to make it a little bit more bearable, and not so embarrassing.
I would love to hear what has worked for your kids, and or what have you been using with your teens that you can live and die by?
