Back to school Basics…. Can you believe that most of the stores have Back To School Basics supplies and uniforms already on the shelves. Shame on them for the high teacher turnover rate, were making decisions based on what we see as we walk through the aisles crying Noooooooooooooo!!!!! (not yet please).. My Back To School Basics plan is very simple folks, and it has been full proofed through the years after so much trial and error. My youngest has to be uniform appropriate, and he tends to put a #hurting on those jeans as we get through just the first semester. I try very hard NOT to skimp on cost of his jeans because he puts them through hell and back. He is still fairly tiny, and is going to the 4th grade weighing in at a whopping 54lbs. Uniforms are actually really great in my book so that it reduces what we are searching for in the morning, but this little man is specific about a few things when it comes to heading out the door for the day. I decided to let him choose some of his favorite things he would like to wear this school year, and what his tennis shoe game will look like.
He tends to go edgy and preppy throughout most of the school year, and I keep certain pieces until the second semester of school. As we are heading out to look for these essential pieces he definitely has to try on a lot of items for the fact of being tiny. We chose one or two jackets to show you which way we kind of lean, but he really liked this one here. He loves anything Star Wars, but he also couldn’t take his eyes off of this one here. I do feel as though some things should be very fun, it is elementary and it flies by especially for me being a school teacher. He really loves the socks that his big brothers wear, and wanted these bad boys here.
I love shopping for him, but will not buy him any shoes that have a white tip., or any white shoes for the matter. He is such my “BOY”, and he gets around that playground on his knees. He has this things for these color shoes here, and tends to beg me for them a lot. I may bend a little but NOT always due to the color of them. I have to remind him that these are not apart of our Back to School Basics LOL!! I bought these socks here, and they are some of my faves for design and durability. We haven’t committed to a backpack yet, but he begged me for this beauty here, and it is NOT in mama’s budget folks!! I always explain to my boys that we have an entire school year to get through, and we can’t put all of our eggs in one basket we have to spread them out a little. In my next post I will let you in on my teenage “BOY” secrets for what’s HOT and mama that’s NOT!!! They are always changing trends, and I am just a mama trying to keep up. I kindly remind my big boys about the Back to School Basics and make sure they take notes… I know that Back to School is NOT what you want to hear, but we are definitely taking it all in….
How does your household handle school shopping? I would love any insight that you have to offer on your Back To School Basics…
