Banquette Style Seating In a Small Space…..
This settee was another one of my thrifted treasure finds. We found this beauty at our local thrift shop, and it didn’t look like the picture above. This settee needed a lot of love, and transformation in order to be apart of this family. I had been looking quite a few places, and just hadn’t had any luck. Settees can be a pricey item, but well worth the investment. When we came across this settee it sat in the garage for a week or so, until I could figure out what the plan was for it.
This settee can make for a great gathering place, and also banquette seating. I would do this 100 times over. When people ask me what has been my favorite part about decorating, and what thrifted finds has been my most prized treasures, it would be this settee here. I do get asked often the size of my table, in relation to the settee. So here it is, and why this space works.
My table is 54″ round, and I found it at an antique shop. I had been wanting a round white table for years, but hadn’t found one that I really liked. This table was brown, and I took to it with Behr paint called “Snow White”. I had a farmhouse table from my last home, but the settee would not fit under the table with the arm height. This table was a thrift find, but I love this one HERE. If you can find a thrifted one, and #DIY it back to life then even better!!
Banquette Style Seating……
With this type of seating we can seat 4-6 people around this table with one extra chair pulled up. We have one extra chair that we use in another part of our home, and can easily move back into the kitchen. These chairs were my moms, and I took them from drab to fab in this subtle gray fabric. I love these chairs HERE, HERE, and HERE. Also, pedestal tables are like magic, the amount of people that it can seat always amazes me. We did have 9 little kids surrounded here for my son’s 10th birthday party!
When looking for a settee try to put up to a dining table. I suggest looking for one that the seat is at least 18″ high that is the standard height for dining chairs. My current chair height(settee) is 18 1/2″ high. Listed below are some settees that I absolutely love, but didn’t fit into my budget.
This is an arm less settee HERE.
Like this striped pattern settee HERE.
Or a subtle pattern is nice, too like this striped settee HERE.
I always save the best for last, this beauty HERE is my all time favorite!
