Ok folks!!!!!! I decided to do a Summer Beach Hat DIY for some summer fun. I wanted to do a DIY that is popular on Instagram with other bloggers. This hat is originally for $455 smackaroos, and I have recreated it for a little under $20. I had been watching this hat for a little while now, but essentially thought to myself I know that I can “DIY” this beach hat for way less than that higher price tag. There is always an answer to all this department store madness, and I make it my business to find out a better, and cheaper way.
The first thing that I needed to do was find me a really BIG straw hat, some sequined string, glue gun, black sharpie, and scissors. I actually found my straw hat at my favorite store Target, and it was only $15! (My kind of steal)..
I love being outside by the pool, but wanted to capture a cute moment with a straw hat that is ever so popular on the internet. There are lots of cool sayings that I saw on Instagram, and also some that were french, or even in Spanish. I decided since I am always working at school, and I still get those summer emails that it was only proper to put onto my hat “OUT OF OFFICE”, and how cute it turned out!!! This “Beach Hat Fun DIY” was really fun to do, and it also was very easy to complete. I really love when I have an idea, and it turns out exactly how I planned it.
Make sure that you write your saying down on a sheet of paper first to get the practice of the cursive writing, and or that you know how it looks before you write on the actual hat.
This is the real tedious part of the “Beach Hat Fun DIY” that takes time to do, and also try to not burn yourself with that damn glue. I tried my best to move quickly because I did not want the glue to dry on me, and the sequin would not adhere properly. Please try to not cut sequin string too much, but just move it around the lines like true cursive handwriting so that it would look really nice and authentic.
Well, here you go my finished product of this $455 dollar hat that. Thank you so much for all the love and compliments that I get through this blog, it really means the world to me. Check out where I am spending my time with this “Beach Hat Fun DIY”!! This project probably took about 45 minutes from start to finish. Enjoy ladies…..
