My Fall Kitchen Tour…..
Fall brings about so many emotions for me, and it screams fall soups, breads, yummy cookies, pies, apple picking, and pumpkin patches! My sister and I have this tradition that we have kept year after year, when my mom passed. We promised that at least one night of the year that we would cook my mom’s gumbo! This is a generational recipe that has been taught to us, ingrained in us, and its in our blood to know this recipe. My family has some of the deepest southern roots, and from time to time its nice to reach way back!
Just this week while in the grocery store I decided that some time this week that I was going to make my boys favorite “Taco Soup”! They love it with the all the fixings, its one of those recipes that just makes them feel loved I’m sure. Fall brings memories of my childhood when I would visit my grandmother down on her farm. My mom and grandmother have since passed, but their legacy will live forever through my siblings and I.
Baking In The Kitchen……
I bought the cutest little baking dish from of course one of my most favorite affordable home decor stores. (Home Goods)!! 🙂 I am planning on making an apple pie, and can’t wait to smell the yummy goodness in the kitchen.
Since I own a settee in my kitchen which was a one day DIY, it needed a little fall too! My hubby probably sits there more than any of us, and I am a pillow hoarder. As the months get cooler the colors get richer, and pillows get fluffier! Bringing in layers adds the feel of the seasonal change. My small guy Cole reminds me of what we need to do as we arrive into a new season very often.
And All At Once Summer Collapses
I can’t wait to take the boys to the pumpkin patch, and have them romp around. Even my kid at heart can’t wait to choose a few pumpkins that I can bring back home to decorate with. Don’t get me wrong I love making my famous pumpkin bread with walnuts. I did a post about my pumpkin bread HERE.
I let Cole loose the other day to choose some apples in the grocery store, and he went crazy see. Apple pie is definitely in our future, and or apple fritters. Don;t get me wrong I loved even more when my boys were littles. Well, those times have come and gone, and I appreciate their wittiness, and personalities even more. Cole left me a subtle hint on the fridge the other day.
Fall Should Be Simple…..
As you can see here on my stove, there is my carrot cake resting on the stove. This is one of the most yummiest recipes, and I love everything about it. You can find it HERE!
If you noticed that my apothecary jars aren’t there any more, they met an untimely death! Well, I found these beauties at my favorite store you know the one. (Ha, ha, ha)!! They were very reasonable, and I love them so much!
We love crusty breads, yummy soups, and anything we can dip into our soups too! Well, this day is done, and I am off to another day in the world of teaching! Can’t wait to share with you my new You Tube video coming up this weekend. Also, what beauty products that I have been loving lately here, and there! I’m trying out a new foundation that is really nice, and very affordable too!
