Creating a Purpose Filled Home…
I am going to be honest with you here. I love decorating our home, and it even if this blog didn’t exist, I am sure these changes would still be taking place in our home! The blog just motivates me more to bring you fresh content, and new ideas. This allows me the opportunity to help someone else make their best home on a budget. Everything in my home isn’t brand new, and it is lived in too! My boys know that this is their refuge, and they love being here. This platform is also not a place to “show off”, or say “look what I got”. I love helping people, and this should be a place of creative thinking and great ideas.
Building A Home From Within…..
When I was growing up the kitchen was OUR meeting place. We ate, we laughed, we learned so much from my mom. In this spot we found laughter, joy, moments, and even sometimes heartache too! Growing up with my a hell of a cook mom, and generational cooking family was so special. Food was the center of the operation in our lives, and today it still plays a very integral part of our joys, and smiles of each day. Being a mom to 4 boys can be very food demanding for any household, but being a good cook, and sharing my history with my boys is the greatest joys, and hidden loves I can share with them. I try not too clutter my counter tops with too much stuff, but I wrote about that in this post HERE.
As busy as I may seem, I am trying harder and being more intentional about the time spent with my boys. My efforts have to be more intentional about what I deposit into them. My time is limited with how many more summers I have left, and every minute counts. They are my world, and watching them thrive and grow ignites the strongest fire within me. Their most favorite recipe is found HERE, they just can’t get enough!!
I’ve loved the simplicity of decorating our home, and being able to bring lots of peace into it too! Jerral and I have added simple touches, we are simple people. Our bedroom furniture is old pieces, and I have redone some of those pieces. The furniture in our bedroom belonged to my mom, and I’m not ready to part with it yet. So I did add a few vintage touches to keep it feeling up to date, and fun! Restoring old furniture can be so fulfilling, I loved restoring the hardware on my nightstands, wrote about that HERE.
Adding fun touches, that pulls my kids in to really living in our home. They pass by this refrigerator, and love creating me messages. Well, until next time “Spring Break”.. I just took some simple ABC letters and spray painted them with my favorite spray paint HERE.
A friend asked me if that was a picture of me when I were a little girl? I told her yes when I was 5 years old, my first Kindergarten photo. (Boy how much I cried that morning)!!! Ha ha ha… These are the items that bring purpose into our home. I wanted to give you a tour of our living room soon, and some of the updates I have done! I have been working in our living room, and it’s definitely turning out just like I planned.
Remember to make your home a “Home Sweet Home”, that is the place your kids will continue to go back to always. They will bring their friends there, and feel comfortable forever in that place.
How do you create a purpose filled home, what do you do in your home that makes it feel purposeful?
