Practical, Quick, and Easy Boys Bedroom Storage Ideas…..
Hey friends.. Side note: We are still working on the boys bedrooms, as we speak. This room is not super BIG, but only big enough for these two little people. Cole and Austin have both done well sharing this room, and they also get a long very well in this little spot. We have only been living in our home for about 3.5 months thus far. I’m keeping it real with you, that decorating takes a lot of time especially if you don’t want to bust your budget all at once doing it. If I could snap my fingers believe me, it would be done.
Organization When It Comes To Boys…..
When it comes to this room organizing battle, most of the time I will win. My boys are pretty good about keeping the area clutter free, and toy free. We have been in the house a few months thus far, and we are still pulling things together. The boys love their space, and they also love playing in their space. These comforters that you see here are getting replace soon, and I purchased these comforters HERE with new sheets. My husband says that I am really good about decluttering, and getting rid of things that add waste to our home.
My boys are picky at times when it comes to games, and toys, and other boy stuff. If you notice all the games that may have lost life, they still carry life in their closet. I try NOT to donate so quickly, they do re discover love in toys. We have learned they my children go through toy phases, and it comes and goes all the time. I didn’t want to have this pristine room, for the sake of these photos. The boys have to keep things in their original packaging, or stack it neatly in the closet. The bear blanket up top is very sentimental to me, and gives me reminders of Cole’s stay in the NICU.
If you see that closet down below, there is still work for us to do. The box was a moving box, but we will get it together I promise. This room has the most unique closet space for the boys, being a double closet for both. They are allowed to use all things in their closets, as they are going to pick it all up when done. If you notice that we don’t harbor lots of clothes most of them stay folded in drawers.
Sort and Organize:
We use the baskets to help give us order, and to keep those nerf guns, bows and arrows in order. You do know that BOY LIFE can get rough, and they need these things to survive. If they have NOT opened a gift from a birthday, or party they leave it in its original packaging. We do NOT re-gift any of these toys because like I previously stated they rediscover playing with these things. The big basket in the corner holds some of the more loose items, and those tall nerf war guns. School backpacks have to go in the closet, once we are done with homework. They are not allowed to leave on the kitchen table, or by the stairs.
Group Like Things….
Try to make sure to group like things together so that they are uniformed in the space. The hot wheels up above in the closet, even have a place to go. They don’t get played with often so they are in a great spot. This puts them out of sight, and out of mind.
In this basket they keep those bedtime books. I still love the fact that they want US to read to them, or you can catch them reading in the closet too. They also have a huge shelf in this room that is filled with books. My oldest two will even be found searching for books on this shelf too! (caught you reading)..:)
Give Them A Drawer…
Make sure to give them a place to hide their treasures, and store them. About once a month I have the boys go through and take out trash, or things that don’t have any more value to them. This drawer works great for them, especially to keep up with their games and what not’s.
Always have the kids help with their OWN space, this will help them with their organization. The boys will begin to see your vision, and follow your lead. You can’t see in this photo, but their dresser was a vintage makeover that I had completed before we moved into this house.
