Hey Friends, this was a very fun DIY day for MR. JW and I. We both (well maybe just me,lol!!) I love to find things that I can re-purpose and purposefully make it beautiful. I live near a Goodwill here in the city near my home and decided to drop in one day after school to see what I could score. I came across this credenza, in which my mind it was just what I had been looking for!! Mr. JW and I created a “coffee bar” in our kitchen with a chalk wall that was a very inexpensive way of incorporating life for our children to have fun with while growing. This coffee station was something that I had seen on #Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna. Of course you guys know that their’s was a lot nicer than this one. The only trouble we had with this was lifting this sucker, sure was heavy!! #notmadeforlifting
We took it out to the garage and put it on a drop cloth, and started sanding with a RYOBI sander that you can find here, in which it does a great job! It took me about 30 minutes to sand this beautiful baby. If you are using chalk paint, sanding isn’t necessary because it is very dry, and will do a great job too. I used a Behr Marquee paint and with a KILZ primer, that was a one coat type primer that would cover any dark existing color. I really had to put some elbow grease into this credenza, and make sure that I primed it very well. This is the first of many DIY’s that I will be sharing here on the blog, and I am so excited for you guys to see each and every one. Once I finished sanding I began to prime, and I waited at least and hour or two before I applied another coat of primer to it.
This is what two coats of primer makes this look like, and I was pretty pleased with it, and I will give her the first coat of paint tonight, and final coat tomorrow morning after church (wheeew)!! #diyishardwork You will only need one can of primer (KILZ), and one can of paint for this size job! I bought two cans of primer and two cans of paint I had multiple jobs to take care of. Here is the final pic of the credenza fully painted, and I am so proud of my own self folks! I think I can handle this DIY thing!!! Last pic with the new hardware I added for a little bit of rustic glam effect.
Ok, friends here is a recap of the week on Delightfully Styled from Tuesday, I wanted to first introduce you to my new baby “Delightfully Styled“, and you can read about that journey here. This has been something in the making for a while, and I have been feeling ever so confident about re-branding my blog, and starting afresh with a new face lift, and platforms. I hope that if your reading this make sure to follow along, and subscribe to get all that inbox goodness. As we push forward I hope that some of you had a chance to browse the super cute items that I found on “Lulu’s” site for Spring fever goodness. If you haven’t gotten there yet make sure to hop over there, and check out some the cutest spring pieces coming out here. I love shopping at Lulu’s they tend to hit every major area of my pocket book, and even I have to step away from the computer. Don’t forget that as the week pressed on I wanted to make sure that you guys received some valuable information on the education side of things. I want to make sure that I am giving back a lot of the things that I have seen work in and out of the classroom, but most of all keeping you up on all the changing trends of what IS happening in the classroom nowadays. If you missed out on the “Teacher Tidbits”, you can see what’s up on the education home front here.
I wanted to make sure that I also gave you some websites to work with your little nuggets with, that seems to be very helpful all the way through high school. Check these out…

As, I rounded out the week my “Frugal Finds Friday“, it was so much fun looking for the best steals out there, and I found a lot, especially once I landed at my store “Agaci”. Check out that post here, and let me know what you think about all the goodness on the blog this week. My next “DIY” that was completed this week was my green hutch, or buffet some may call it. This piece is very near and dear to me for the fact that it was my mom’s, and she is no longer here with me. I only have a few big items of hers, and I wanted to do something extremely unique with it. It turned out very gorgeous, and you can grab a sneak peek here.
This room is not complete, but I am one pretty proud mama! I have been asked a lot why such a pop of color. Well, it makes me feel very happy when I see such a hue of color. My mom was such an integral part of my life, and I miss her so much! This will forever remind me of her everlasting beauty. I need to get two more chairs for that table, and as you may know I am going to scour craigslist for them, and I think I may have scored. Take a look at choice number #3 here, and which may be more than I may spend folks, this craigslist stuff is serious business, my second choice #2 here, and which may be my FINAL choice! LOL This was my last and final choice #1 here, but still a very nice option for the room with the green china cabinet. Well, friends I am off to enjoy the rest of my Saturday it’s beautiful here, God bless.
Let me know what craigslist chair is the winner?
